From the English garden to the gardens of our times

This course the third great school of garden design will be examined: the English school. We shall study the fundamental influence that the English landscape had on the conception of the park. We shall look at some of the better-known gardens in this tradition.

The gardens and parks of America will also be studied for their modern concept of the public garden.

- Parks of the historic houses of the British Isles
- the "jardin anglais" in France and in Italy
- From private garden to public garden
- F.L. Olmstead and the botanical exhibitions
- Burle Marx: form and colour in the garden
- Porcinai and the garden in Florence
- The modern garden in Europe
- Foreigners in Florence: Pinsent, Scott, Leader e Acton
- Public parks and gardens in Florence and Tuscany
   
Visits to modern and historical gardens in Tuscany are also part of the programme.
