Sculpture course

Statues are an integral component of Italian formal gardens. In this course you will learn the techniques which are used to create these.

We will work in all major techniques, starting with
modelling in clay, and will look at marble, wood and gesso,
the latter which is used to create models for bronze casts.
We will not only study the characteristics of each of these
media but also the instruments used to work them and
ageing (patina) techniques.
During the first four weeks students will learn basic
sculpture techniques and will study each of these in
greater detail from the firth week.
