Cooking with herbs

Which of us us has never used aromatic herbs to flavour our food? Many people do not know it, but herbs do not necessarily need to be bought at the shop, many times dried, but they can very well be cultivated at home! Surely, each of us, even if not the happy owner of a garden, does have a small balcony or a window in the sun where a bit of parsley or basil can be made to grow! This course is addressed to all those who would like to prove the excitement of growing herbs at home.

The programme for the course is:
- Elements of botany
- Herbs through history and mythology
- Varieties of herbs and edible plants
- How to use herbs to best effect in the garden
- Herbs on the terrace or balcony
- The use of herbs in Mediterranean cuisine
- The use of herbs in the Italian cuisine
- "Exotic" herbs and their use
- Harvesting and drying herbs
- Recipes and uses of herbs in the kitchen
As part of the course there will be visits to specialised nurseries as well as a cooking class at as country estate.
